Increasing amounts of data and corresponding compliance requirements are leading companies to hire executives experienced in information technology and data management, analysts say. Gartner says the rise of the "chief data officer" is driven largely by global firms operating in heavily regulated industries. Analysts predict that 25% of large global organizations will have a CDO by the end of the year.
