Atlanta radio stations sprung into action as a snowstorm caused widespread traffic problems in the region this week, stranding thousands of drivers. Cellphone service was reportedly overwhelmed by the crisis, leaving radio stations as the lone information source for many of the stranded and their families, local radio execs say. "Those people trapped in their car all night long weren't listening to Pandora. Radio was a lifeline," said Jeff Brown, Atlanta market manager for Cumulus Media.
