Business groups call for more math teachers

Fearful that the U.S. will lose its global economic edge to rising powerhouses China and India, American business and science groups are pressing lawmakers to spend millions of dollars on programs to produce math teachers. The NEA believes improving work conditions and salaries for the entire teacher corps will attract professionals of all backgrounds, including math majors, into teaching.
