Sen. Reid says he will oppose asbestos legislation

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., that he would fight to stop debate on the proposed asbestos compensation fund from coming to the floor. Debate on the measure to establish the $140 billion fund was slated to begin Feb. 6., but 60 votes will now be needed to proceed with it.
