AHIMA warns against stopping ICD-10 preparations

The American Health Information Management Association has warned that despite calls from the American Medical Association to block ICD-10 implementation, providers should not halt their efforts to comply with the new code standards. Doing so may cause providers to fail to meet the compliance deadline and could lead to significant financial losses for participants, AHIMA vice president for advocacy and policy Dan Rode said.
