Germany focuses on pan-European transaction tax:

Martin Kotthaus, a spokesman for Germany's Finance Ministry, said the country remains interested in introducing a broad, EU-wide tax on financial transactions and won't follow France's lead. "We are discussing in Europe ... the issue of a financial-transaction tax based on the European Commission's proposal," Kotthaus said.
