IBM finds carbon nanotube transistors show much promise

01/31/2012 | CNET

Researchers at IBM have developed carbon nanotube transistors that not only outperform standard silicon transistors but also consume less power in doing so. In a paper published in Nano Letters, the researchers revealed they were able to create carbon nanotube transistors smaller than 10 nanometers; in contrast, the state of the art in silicon-based circuits is 22-nanometer linewidths.
