Business, unions discuss proposed worker visa program

Last month, Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., met with the presidents of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the AFL-CIO, asking them to try and work out a compromise about allowing foreign, low-skilled workers. Labor unions want a limit placed on the number of workers who could be hired. Businesses that need workers say it is difficult to prove they tried to hire Americans before turning to foreign workers.
