How creative outsourcing could lower health care costs

Small companies could adopt an organizational model known as the "Protean Corporation" to avoid costs related to new federal health care regulations, writes Paul Christiansen, who runs a Web-design company. Under this model, businesses hire only a small group of core employees -- 50 or fewer to avoid certain new health care mandates -- and outsource work such as marketing and accounting to other corporations.
