Middle class, "near poor" both increasing in developing world

The middle class has been growing in the developing world, but there are also more working "near poor" because of the global financial crisis, according to the U.N. International Labor Organization. While 397 million workers live in extreme poverty -- less than $1.25 a day -- an additional 472 million are "moderately poor," living on $1.25 to $2 a day, according to ILO estimates.
