Research yields clues to treating malnutrition

Tens of thousands of children facing severe malnutrition could be saved each year if they were given an antibiotic along with a therapeutic food made from fortified peanut butter, studies suggest. The World Health Organization is expected next month to recommend the antibiotics -- which would cost a few dollars a week -- to help treat child malnutrition in the developing world.
