Friday fact-check: Was Obama blowing smoke on U.S. carbon reductions?

During his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama bragged about America having reduced its carbon emissions by more than any other nation on earth. That's technically true, writes Louis Jacobson, but America also emits far more carbon than many other countries. "When you look at the scale of the cuts proportionately -- which puts nations on a more equal footing when making comparisons -- the United States did not achieve the kind of steep cuts that other industrialized countries did," Jacobson writes.
