Motorists in Atlanta found themselves stranded for up to 12 hours this week after a frosting of snow brought the city to a standstill. Still, it could have been worse: In 2010, roadworks near Beijing left drivers stranded for 11 days, while a 2011 blizzard in Chicago left rush-hour drivers buried up to their windshields in snow.
