Legalization process is part of House GOP immigration guideline

House Republicans' principles for immigration reform includes a plan that would provide legal status for people who entered the country illegally -- but it is not a "special path" to citizenship according to these reports. Undocumented residents could apply for legal status after border security and enforcement are strengthened. The outline also mentions guest-worker programs, use of the E-Verify system and high-skilled worker visas, but any vote on legislation is "months out," said Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore.
