National Guard ceases plans to build wind turbine in Ohio training facility

The U.S. National Guard Bureau wrote a letter to representatives of the American Bird Conservancy and Black Swamp Bird Observatory, saying that the 131-foot-tall wind turbine project at Camp Perry -- a training facility -- in Ohio will not move forward "at this time." The letter was in response to the groups, who said the location is within a bird migration corridor and threatened to sue if the installation of the single-turbine facility proceeds. Further reviews regarding the project will be done by the military, according to U.S. Air Force Col. Peter Sartori, director for installations and mission support.
