Obama calls for congressional support to advance R&D funding, trade plans

President Barack Obama laid out plans in his State of the Union address that would significantly affect the U.S. chemical industry and called on Congress to restore basic research funding and help speed trade deals with the European Union and Asia-Pacific region. "We need to work together on tools like bipartisan trade promotion authority," Obama said. "China and Europe aren't standing on the sidelines. Neither should we," he added.
