Insurers have paid nearly $5 billion in Mississippi claims

Mississippi Insurance Commissioner George Dale said insurers have paid out nearly $5 billion in hurricane-related claims in six of the state's counties. Though 183,473 claims have already been filed in Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, Stone, George and Pearl River Counties, Dale anticipated numbers to swell once mediation conferences get under way.
