Deep-pocketed investors, tourists may power hotels through slump

Institutional investors and tourists will offset the effects of a predicted slump in the hotel industry, according to panelists at the Americas Lodging and Investment Summit in Los Angeles Wednesday. Conditions are not the same as when hotels last faced a slump, because there is now no oversupply of rooms and the weak dollar is attracting tourists, said one panelist.
