Deep-pocketed investors, tourists may power hotels through slump:

Institutional investors and foreign tourists will offset the effects of a predicted slump in the U.S. hotel industry, according to panelists at The Americas Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Conditions are not the same as when hotels last faced a slump, because there is now no oversupply of rooms and the weak dollar is attracting international tourists, said one panelist.
