Elderly women with dementia may get unneeded mammograms

Researchers said 18% of more than 2,100 U.S. women over age 70 with advanced cognitive impairment had screening mammograms in the past two years. They said the tests were done even though guidelines say these women may be among those who don't benefit from the test given their shortened life expectancy.
