More data show safety, success of bariatric surgery

The medical community increasingly recognizes weight-loss surgery as a safe and effective way to combat obesity as well as improve or cure certain obesity-related conditions, such as diabetes or sleep apnea. The acceptance is likely to fuel a continued rise in the number of bariatric surgeries performed each year, but experts caution the procedure isn't appropriate for all patients.
