Shell to invest $1.63B in joint venture with Brazilian ethanol producer

Royal Dutch Shell announced it will enter a joint venture with Brazilian company Cosan for the production and sale of cane-based ethanol. Under the deal, Shell will invest $1.63 billion in cash into the venture over two years. Cosan Chairman Rubens O. Silveira Mello said the partnership will help "consolidate ethanol as a global commodity."
