Wall Street brokerage firms continue to beat market

The bear market of 2007 to 2009 proved to be a difficult time for many Wall Street brokerage firms in terms of their stock-picking ability, but lately they have been regaining their prowess. The latest round of a Barron's stock-picking contest, which ended Dec. 31, showed that the average brokerage firm's picks beat the market for each period tracked. Individual winners included McAdams Wright Ragen, Morgan Keegan and Goldman Sachs.
