1,800 teaching jobs in NYC could be eliminated through attrition

Facing the loss of $400 million in federal and state aid, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made a budget proposal that seeks to cut 1,800 teaching jobs through attrition. The city stands to lose even more education funding if it is unable to reach an agreement with teachers over evaluations, required by the state.
