Put focus on quality, not quantity of life, oncologist says

When a medical diagnosis is not good a physician's first responsibility is to the patient and finding out what he or she wants to know about their chances of survival, Dr. Mikkael Sekeres writes. He and his fellow oncologists can be bad at making predictions, he writes, but they can provide guidance and "talk about setting goals, about maximizing quality of life, because we don’t have much leverage with quantity of life."
