Within his first few days in office, new U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan personally contacted all 50 state school chiefs via a conference call, said North Dakota's state superintendent Wayne Sanstead. Sanstead said Duncan gave the state leaders his personal contact information and discussed how President Barack Obama's economic-recovery plan would affect schools.
