Report: Retail will continue to struggle in 2009

The retail industry faces more trouble in the U.S. in 2009, according to a report issued by Cushman & Wakefield's Retail Industry Group. "I think it's going to be a protracted lease-up period. It will be difficult to fill up a lot of that space soon," Richard Latella, senior managing director of C&W's Retail Industry Group, said of vacancies being caused by bankruptcies. Discount chains and wholesale clubs are showing signs of growth.
