Towns and cities throughout the U.S. are eagerly awaiting funding from the proposed economic stimulus package. Thousands of projects may be eligible to participate in the program, which is now valued at nearly $900 billion. Lawmakers say at least $100 billion in the bill is designated for "shovel-ready" construction and environmental projects along with school modernization and energy programs. The U.S. Conference of Mayors has created a list of 15,221 projects in 641 cities -- with a price tag of $97 billion.
