United to test RFID-equipped plastic luggage tags

United Airlines is making new plastic bag tags available to 1,000 of its frequent-flier members who live near Chicago. The airline plans to test the tags, which are equipped with a radio frequency identification chip. The tags will allow the passengers to avoid the lines for obtaining a paper tag to check luggage.
