Health IT agency seeks funding boost for 2011

The HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT would operate on a $78 million budget next year if Congress approves President Barack Obama's 2011 fiscal plan. Part of the funding would be used "to identify consumer perspectives on consumer e-health tools and the development of patient decision aids; anticipate and mitigate unintended consequences of the electronic exchange of health information; and support state governments as they implement their HITECH grants," according to the HHS.
