Industry groups urge EPA to drop plans to tighten ozone limit

The Environmental Protection Agency's plan to strengthen the 2008 smog standard is being questioned by industry groups, including the American Chemistry Council. Lorraine Gershman of ACC said that her organization supports peer-reviewed science and would support changes if the science demonstrated that they were justified. However, she said, "We continue to believe that the scientific evidence does not support the further lowering of the ozone standard at this time."
