Obama proposes plan for student lending in budget

President Barack Obama's fiscal 2011 budget includes a plan to end private-company involvement in student loan origination. According to the White House, the plan would save $43 billion over 10 years. Those savings would be offset by a $68.6 billion increase in Pell Grants, which are awarded to low-income students.
