Studies on Fragile X drugs might aid treatment of autism

Research aimed at discovering treatments for Fragile X syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes intellectual disabilities, might also provide clues to treating autism. Studies of a new class of medications involve adults but might benefit children and provide a "promising pathway" for autism treatment, an official from the National Institute of Mental Health said.
