Textbook publishers strike deals for digitization

Textbook publishers are working with ScrollMotion, a software firm, to adapt their titles for Apple's iPad and other e-book readers. "People have been talking about the impact of technology on education for 25 years. It feels like it is really going to happen in 2010," said Rik Kranenburg, an executive with McGraw-Hill. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt K-12, Kaplan, McGraw-Hill and Pearson have signed deals to have their textbooks, study guides and test-prep materials available on Apple devices including the iPad.
