U.S. sees steep drop in construction spending for December

Construction spending in December plummeted to its lowest figure since 2003, the U.S. Commerce Department said. Expenditure for construction work totaled $902.5 billion, a 1.2% decline. The drop more than doubled the 0.5% decrease anticipated by economists polled by Reuters.
