Lawmakers are losing momentum on cybersecurity legislation

The Senate is unlikely to meet a Feb. 17 deadline to begin floor debate on a proposed cybersecurity bill, said Majority Leader Harry Reid. The legislation -- which would give the Department of Homeland Security more discretion to set cybersecurity guidelines for critical infrastructure -- has sparked a backlash from the private sector, prompting a letter from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce urging lawmakers to hold off on acting on the measure and citing the bill's potential cost to businesses.
