Why Facebook can't replace business websites

Facebook offers exposure for businesses, but the social network can't provide all the benefits of a traditional dot-com website, especially if a company has back-end systems integrated into their website, writes Vangie Beal. Facebook is better suited for small businesses and entrepreneurs -- though Facebook's online shopping platform pales in comparison with conventional online shopping sites. "You can have it to connect to people but first and foremost the relationship is built between the user and the Facebook platform, not your company," says Peter Kim of the Dachis Group.
