Experts predict Utah teacher shortage by 2016

Utah State University analysts predict student enrollment in the state will rise 28% over the next decade, just as nearly half of Utah's teachers will become eligible for retirement. With a more robust economy now, legislators hoping to avert an educator crisis are mulling raising entry-level salaries, expanding mentoring to new teachers and giving scholarships for graduate study in math and science.
