Interior Dept. unveils budget plan for 2011

The country's oil and gas sector will remain a significant benefactor to resource management, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said as he introduced his department's budget plans for fiscal 2011. The industry will also be charged more for oil and gas production, he added. The budget proposal expects fiscal 2011 profit of $10 million from a new onshore inspection fee and $2.5 million from a $4-per-acre fee for nonproducing leases.
