New England examines earthquake risks

Seismologists have found a more receptive audience for earthquake predictions in New England after the devastation in Haiti. Any earthquake above magnitude 6.0 could damage many of the region's older brick buildings, although the last major earthquake in New England was in 1755. Most of Boston's taller buildings were constructed after 1975, when the state instituted building codes designed to help buildings withstand earthquakes.
