Study sees browsers, not apps, as dominant

Advances in mobile Internet technology and the advent of the iPad and its 10-inch screen will launch browser-based mobile Web sites into ascendancy at the expense of applications built specifically for individual cell phone platforms, such as the iPhone, BlackBerry or Android, according to a study from Taptu, a mobile-search company. "It's getting easier and easier to create rich touch-screen user experiences with the browser without having to create platform-specific apps," Taptu contends in the report.
