Businesses, industry groups seek legislation to slow EPA's boiler rules

Businesses and industry groups are urging lawmakers to create federal legislation delaying the Environmental Protection Agency's maximum achievable control technology rules for industrial boilers. A recent court decision against the EPA's delay of boiler rules "is yet another example of the continuing morass of uncertainty surrounding the rules. There is also a troubling track record of courts overturning past Boiler MACT rules after determining EPA misclassified solid wastes -- a problem the legislation would solve," according to a letter sent by the groups this week.
