Fitness level affects stroke recovery, study says

People who had engaged in medium or high levels of physical activity before having a stroke had a faster response to treatment, less brain damage and a higher likelihood of regaining motor skills, Spanish researchers reported. One study author said drugs will never match the benefits of physical activity, and that exercise should be recommended for all patients, especially those with cardiovascular risk factors.
