Analysis: App Store, Google Play see uptick in global game revenue

Revenue from game applications sold at the App Store and Google Play is on the rise in many markets around the world, according to the App Annie analytics firm. While the iOS App Store is dominant in many markets, game customers in South Korea rely almost entirely on Google Play to buy their apps. "What was very telling was that December was the biggest increase we have ever seen for iOS, driven by device sales and promotions," said App Annie's Oliver Lo.
