The facts of life for clients when they divorce

A financial adviser must be ready to deal with a number of factors when clients divorce. For example, while divorcing couples generally say they want to maintain the status quo, the financial pressures of maintaining two households and child-support payments often prohibit that. Long-term care insurance may be warranted, since the spouse will no longer be available as a caregiver in later years. Divorcing couples often act emotionally instead of rationally when it comes to various decisions, including financial planning.
