Netflix CEO: Original programming will help build subscriber base

Netflix's investments in the series "House of Cards" and "Arrested Development" are part of a $5 billion bet on original content to attract subscribers, the company says. "We're on the cusp of something that will change television forever," CEO Reed Hastings said. "Our view is that over the next couple of years as Internet TV really grows, people will look back and say that this was the turning point."
