Studies quantify value that financial advisers offer clients

Comprehensive financial advisers can help clients reach budgeting, savings and retirement goals, according to two studies that quantify how advisers add value to their clients and debunk earlier misconceptions about the industry. Further, these studies illustrate that investment outcomes of broker-guided portfolios are not the best way to quantify the value the financial planning industry offers clients. Rather, as Wade Pfau concludes, comprehensive planners "help their clients achieve better outcomes ... [including] making better investment decisions, thinking about tax efficiency and considering total-portfolio and lifetime perspectives."
