Canadian firms may be pulling ahead in gender equality, study finds

Some of Canada's largest firms are surpassing their counterparts in the U.S. and U.K. when it comes to the number of women they have on their corporate boards, according to a Spencer Stuart study. Women held one-fifth of board spots at Canadian companies, the study said, while women held just 17% of the seats at U.S. companies of a comparable size. "We are encouraged by the numbers because there was so little movement for so long," said Tanya van Biesen, Spencer Stuart's co-head of diversity practice.
