FCC to double funding for school, library broadband program

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler on Wednesday provided details of a plan to double in size the agency's fund that helps set up broadband connections in schools and libraries. The program, which includes a wireless network element, comes in the wake of President Barack Obama's vow last week to bring broadband service to 15,000 additional schools under the FCC's E-Rate program.
