SEC notifies General Mills about possible civil action

Midwestern cereal maker General Mills has acknowledged a letter from the Securities and Exchange Commission that the SEC may pursue civil action against the company related to its sales practices. General Mills, which said the SEC notice did not relate directly any investigation of Ahold's U.S. Food Service, said it will cooperate with the SEC and believes its sales practices and related accounting are in line with current rules and regulations.
